Ohhhh, so this is where sushi comes from!—M

Remember when Jenn Shelton from Born to Run ate an entire pizza in the middle of (was it the Leadville 100?) that super long race?  If I’m doing a shorter race this weekend, like around 13.1 miles perhaps, and I ate an even cheesier pizza, like the Pizza Hut Crazy Cheese Crust Pizza perhaps, around mile 6.55, would I be even faster than Shelton—or would I just die? Be honest, am I born to run?

Fun fact: Jenn Shelton is a Patagonia trail running ambassador, quite possibly the coolest gig on Earth. Doing what you love while looking cool and protecting the environment all at the same time? Can’t beat it.  I wonder if Patagonia picked her because she’s such a good runner or a really really great pizza eater.  If it’s the latter, someday, with a little more practice; hell, I’ve already got the heart, I might have a chance.

Seriously though, is carbo-loading with pizza ever a good idea?  Please say yes!—M

After spending a long weekend in the state that means so much to me more than it’ll ever know (does a state have feelings? how best is it embodied? remember when Timothy Levitch from that documentary ‘The Cruise’ talked about how NYC and him went through a divorce last winter and they were just begin to reconcile again? kind of like that, yes?), I was inspired to make nachos resembling one of my favorite places in the world: Colorado!I’ve never adventured much into food art (mash potatoes and gravy volcanoes excluded)What to be a copy cat? Here is what I used (all ingredients found at good ole Trader Joe’s):-sweet potato chips for the valley below the massive 14’ner peaks-seaweed strips for the foreground pines and then sliced in half to resemble more trees in the distance.  (Depth!)-blue corn chips to resemble the mountains (feel free to sing ‘America the Beautiful’ lyrics while you do this part)-mozzarella cheese for snow because I don’t really like monterey jack that much unless it’s mixed with cheddar cheese and hey, who ever heard of orange snow?-tin foil for a beautiful overcast backdrop.  isn’t the sky so much prettier when the sun is gone and not burning your eyes?  I agree.Colorado, you stole my heart and I wouldn’t have it any other way.  And you’re delicious!—M

Last week, I caused a fire in our apartment and my roommate had to use the fire extinguisher.  Yesterday, I was the grill master of Sunday night feast.  It was a Cinco de Mayo miracle! —M

How strong does wind have to be in order to lift up the average person and carry them around a bit?  Can this happen without a tornado?

Would being swept away from the wind (miles off course) be a reasonable excuse to be late for work?  Could it be verified?  Would you look any different if you snoozed too long and rushed to work? Would you look any different if you were bad at dressing yourself to begin with?

If the wind offered me a ride, yes, I guess, I would probably go.  I would have to be wearing the proper attire (no skirts or dress, pants, tucked in shirt, goggles?) It would have to be over an open field, maybe in Kansas which is the flattest land I’ve ever seen personally.  And no promise of being slammed into anything dangerous. I also would want to land gently on my feet.  I’ve only gotten rid of my fear of rollercoasters within the last couple years.

Hmm, have you ever heard the wolf cry to the blue corn moon? -M

Love your sister? Hate your sister?  Don’t have a sister or want more sister?  Don’t really care about sisters but wants to read about adventure, new experiences, food, culture, life, and all that jazz?  Well, that’s awesome. I (Maddie) live in New York City and am a writer and work in publishing and I (Sam) am just graduating college in Colorado and basically figuring out what I want to do with my life.  We are far enough away that it’s impossible to experience every adventure together but close enough that we want to share everything anyway anyhow. Join us and come be a part of our family; be our sister, be our brother.  Welcome to our tribe.
